(VOVworld) – US President Barack Obama will begin a tour of 4 Asian nations: Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, and the Philippines on Tuesday.

In a statement, US National Security Adviser Susan Rice said that President Obama week-long trip, is aimed at underscoring Washington’s commitment to Asia-Pacific. Japan and the Republic of Korea will be the first legs of President Obama’s trip. He will discuss with Japanese and Korean leaders measures to reinforce their alliances. Meanwhile Obama’s visits to Malaysia and the Philippines aim to boost relations with the two nations in ASEAN, which is part of the Asia pivot in the US rebalancing strategy. Obama will also persuade Japan and Malaysia to quickly complete negotiations of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement.
