Biden pledges to eliminate racism
(VOVWORLD) -US President Joe Biden took aim on Sunday at the "ugly poisons" of "systemic racism and white supremacy" that he said had long plagued the United States.

In a statement on Sunday marking International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, President Biden admitted that the US is facing problems of racism, xenophobia, and nativism and pledged to change the existing laws in the US that "tolerate" discrimination.
Biden's statement came amid mounting pressure on law enforcement authorities to treat last week’s deadly shooting in Atlanta of eight people - including six women of Asian descent - as a hate crime.
Racism against Asians in the US is believed to have increased during the COVID-19 pandemic.
