In this year's address, Biden reviewed the economic and legislative achievements his administration has made to improve the lives of Americans: reducing inflation and the federal deficit, cutting prescription drug and energy costs, increasing semiconductor chip production, and improving infrastructure.

Biden’s speech was quoted as saying that the story of America is a story of progress and resilience, of always moving forward, and of never giving up. A story that is unique among all nations.

“We are the only country that has emerged from every crisis stronger than when we entered it. That is what we are doing again. Two years ago, our economy was reeling. As I stand here tonight, we have created a record 12 million new jobs, more jobs created in two years than any president has ever created in four years. Today, COVID no longer controls our lives. And two years ago, our democracy faced its greatest threat since the Civil War. Today, though bruised, our democracy remains unbowed and unbroken,” said President Biden.

He vowed continued support for the Ukrainian people and committed to freedom and peace not only in Europe but around the world.

He said he has made it clear to Chinese President Xi Jinping that the US will seek competition, not conflict with China. He reiterated commitment to working with China where it can advance American interests and benefit the world.

Biden said America is rallying the world again to meet challenges, from climate and global health, to food insecurity, to terrorism and territorial aggression.
