The AFP news agency cited a threatening email that said: "All schools are bombed with TNT. Soon all schools will explode." Since Monday, schools have received a total of 102 bomb threats. Students were evacuated for 24 hours, and police stepped in to search for explosives. So far no explosives have been found.
The incident occurred just days before a general election in Bulgaria scheduled for April 2. Most polling stations are located in schools. Minister Demerdzhiev insists that the upcoming elections will go ahead as planned, unless a concrete danger is detected.
