But the Democratic Unionist Party’s Westminster leader Nigel Dodds, accused the Irish government of “highly reckless” talks about the potential of a no-deal Brexit to cause trouble at the border.
He said Irish leaders should focus on what Michel Barnier, EU chief negotiator, said the other day – that even in the event of a no deal they would sit down and find operational strategies to have checks and controls away from the border.
Prime Minister May said the government will negotiate with the EU and Ireland to ensure that there is no hard border with Ireland in line with the Good Friday Agreement.
