(VOVWORLD) - An EU diplomat said Wednesday that a trade deal between the UK and the EU will be reached soon.

EU members will have to approve a temporary application of the agreement starting in January as the European Parliament won’t have enough time to ratify the agreement by then, he said.
Another unnamed EU official said a deal has been basically agreed. The UK said negotiations are still underway.
The Sun magazine said negotiators hope to finalize a 2,000-page deal by Thursday.
