The result handed Prime Minister Boris Johnson his first national election victory, while opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn, whose Labour Party suffered a crushing defeat with just over 200 seats. Prime Minister Boris Johnson called on Friday for “closure” over the Brexit divisions, saying his election victory provided an overwhelming mandate to take Britain out of the European Union on January 31.
Leaders of EU countries and other countries have congratulated Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his Conservative Party and expressed their wish to sign bilateral trade agreements in post-Brexit.
