Burundian President urges coup investigation
(VOVworld) – Burundi’s President Pierre Nkurunziza has urged security agencies to investigate attacks on radio stations during a failed coup plot staged last week against his government. He said on Wednesday that any people who are found responsible for such attacks must be punished with tough sanctions. He stated that security had been restored in almost all administrative regions excerpt in 4 parts in Bujumbura city where a "small group" of demonstrators has occupied.

On May 13th and 14th army forces who had attempted to topple the incumbent President attacked one of the pro-ruling party radio stations, Rema FM, and destroyed four stations close to the opposition. Most mutineers have been captured, but the failed coup’s leader Major General Godefroid Niyombare has not yet been arrested.
