Businesses in HCMC kick off production

(VOVworld) – After the traditional Lunar New Year holiday, businesses in Ho Chi Minh City have resumed production and many have orders until the end of June.

Long Son Joint Stock Company in the Tan Binh Industrial Zone, which specializes in cashew-nut exports, is busy packaging for export to the Middle East and the US an initial batch worth 100,000 USD. Tan Quang Minh Company (Bidrico), a soft drink producer in the Vinh Loc Industrial Zone, resumed work last Friday to prepare to export five containers of bird’s nest drink to the US. In addition to expanding its export market, Bidrico continues to increase its efforts to bring made-in-Vietnam goods to rural areas. Nguyen Xuan Truong, head of Bidrico’s trading division, said ‘To maintain this year’s growth rate, Bidrico has consolidated its distribution network and programs in traditional markets and rural areas to increase the company’s coverage. In addition to existing export markets, Bidrico will actively seek foreign partners through various channels.

In the first two months of 2013, Ho Chi Minh City has landed three investment projects in industrial and processing zones with a total value of more than 300 million USD - half of the year’s target.
