Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung talked about IT application and developing e-government: “Vietnam’s IT and communications sector has seen much progress recently with ICT application ranking 41^st of 141 countries. Vietnam ranks 50^th of 194 countries and territories worldwide on the global cyber security index, up from the 100^th position in 2017”.

Minister Hung said Vietnam ranked 88th in the world and sixth in ASEAN in the United Nations E-Government Survey 2018. E-government development across the board has contributed to administrative reform by saving time and reducing costs for individuals and businesses: “E-government intends to integrate 30 percent of online public services by 2020. We have finished a platform for sharing business, social insurance, and profile data and will submit a decree on data sharing and connectivity for government approval this year”.

Meanwhile, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong said the government will restructure the seafood industry, focusing on aquaculture and fishing logistics: “It’s essential to promote the value chain from production and input material supply and shift from fishing to aquaculture. We should focus on better processing technology to boost profits and expand export markets”.

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung said Vietnam has a strong potential to develop its seafood sector. Last year, Vietnam’s seafood output totaled 7.7 million tons, with export turnover exceeding 9 billion USD.
