(VOVWORLD) - The Cambodian government on Sunday issued a decree on mandatory vaccination against COVID-19 among all government officials and armed forces, warning disciplinary action will be taken against those who avoid being vaccinated.

According to the newly released decree, the obligations do not apply to individuals who are unable to be vaccinated for health reasons, with a health certificate issued by a health official.
In a message sent nationwide on Saturday, Prime Minister Hun Sen announced that Cambodia will receive additional 8 million COVID-19 vaccine doses as planned from now to the end of this year.
Cambodia has given inoculations against COVID-19 for nearly 680,000 people and nearly 217,000 military personnel of the total population of 16.9 million.
Cambodia now has 4,238 COVID-19 infections, 2,152 of them have been declared clear to the virus. 29 others have been reported dead.
