(VOVworld) – The Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) announced the formula for the reorganization of the National Election Committee (NEC) in a meeting Tuesday to end the year-long political crisis in Cambodia. CPP spokesman Cheam Yeap told reporters yesterday that the committee should have either: 3 CPP members and 2 CNRP members or 4 CPP members and 3 CNRP members. In both options, CPP is the chairman while vice chairman goes to CNRP. Yeap said that the CPP still maintains its stance to approve the NEC body by 50% plus one majority vote. Meanwhile, CNRP insists on the 2/3 vote to approve the NEC organization.

Yeap’s announcement has made the public worry about the outcomes of Tuesday's senior talks. But political analysts believed that the meeting between Prime Minister Hun Sen and CNRP President Sam Rainsy will see concessions from both sides to remove the deadlock.
