(VOVworld)- Aida Avella, presidential candidate of the Colombian left-wing Union Patriotic (UP) party luckily survived after her convoy was shot at on Sunday while she was on her way to an election campaign event. Accompanying her was Carlos Lozano, a UP candidate for the Upper House. President Juan Manuel Santos ordered an investigation and increased protection for Ms. Avella.
