Central region overcomes storm aftermaths
(VOVWORLD) - 9 people died, 4 went missing and more than 100 people injured in the Doksuri storm that hit central Vietnam on Friday. More than 165,000 houses were destroyed, 200 fishing boats sank, more than 16,000 ha of crops and aquaculture submerged, and 1,600 electric poles collapsed.

Central cities and provinces are making every effort to overcome the consequences of the storm. Ha Tinh province mobilized soldiers, border guards, police and youth union members to join the efforts. The Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development and People’s Committees have inspected flooded areas and put in place measures to help the locals stabilize their lives and restore production. The electricity system in Quang Binh province was the most seriously destroyed. Nguyen Thanh, Deputy Director General of the Central Region Electricity Company: “Electricity has been restored in most townships. We are doing our best to resume electricity in other areas."
People in Quang Tri province have resumed their production on Sunday. Fishermen in the region went fishing. Senior Lieutenant Colonel Dang Ngoc Son is Head of the Cua Viet Border Guard Station says hundreds of fishing boats have left storm shelters: “After the storm, fishermen went fishing. Offshore fishing boats which docked at Cua Viet to shelter in storm have left. The Border Guard Station has asked the Phu Hoi Inspection Station to facilitate fishermen to go offshore fishing and help them ensure safety.”
