Charlie Hebdo attack: Police hunt suspects in northern France

(VOVworld) – A huge police operation is under way north-east of Paris, searching for the main suspects in Wednesday’s deadly attack on Charlie Hebdo magazine.

The RAID, a French anti-terrorist squad, and the GIGN, a paramilitary special operations unit, were deployed in the town of Villers-Cotterets in the northern Aisne region to search areas near the town where the two suspects, Cherif and Said Kouachi, reportedly robbed a petrol station.

On Thursday, several blank grenades were thrown at a mosque in the city of Le Mans, west of Paris, and shots were fired at a Muslim prayer hall after evening prayers in the Port-la-Nouvelle District, near Narbonne in southern France. No injuries have been reported so far.
