China attaches great importance to Switzerland organizing the first Summit on Peace in Ukraine and has been in close communication with Switzerland and relevant parties on this since early this year, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a routine briefing.
“China has always insisted that an international peace conference should be endorsed by both Russia and Ukraine, with the equal participation of all parties, and that all peace proposals should be discussed in a fair and equal manner,” she added.
The Swiss Foreign Ministry announced on May 3 that it has invited more than 100 countries to the Ukraine peace talks that will take place on June 15-16 at the Burgenstock resort in central Switzerland.
The event, to be held at Kiyv’s request, will discuss Ukraine’s “peace formula”.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend.
