"China should hold dialogue with East Sea claimant countries"

(VOVworld) - China’s declaration that it owns the East Sea is irrelevant as the sea is an international territory, US Senator John McCain told a VOV correspondent this week. To end East Sea disputes and maintain regional peace and security, McCain suggested: "China should sit down and negotiate with the other nations in the region collectively: Phillipines, Vietnam, Indonesia, and any country that has an interest in the region and an interest in reducing tension in the region. And those negitiations, I believe, could be productive. Chinese strategy now is to negotiate one by one with these countries. In my view, it’s not the path that these negitiations should follow and let it done in an collective way."
McCain said ASEAN plays an important role in helping its members resolve China-related issues.
