(VOVworld) – Senior Chinese and US diplomats and military officials discussed strategic security issues on Tuesday in Beijing ahead of the annual China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED).

The event, dubbed the fourth China-US Strategic Security Dialogue under the S&ED framework, was co-chaired by Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui and US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns. The two sides exchanged views in a candid, practical and constructive atmosphere on issues that included strategic security. The two agreed to foster an S&ED mechanism to enhance bilateral trust and cooperation.
