(VOVWORLD) - China and the US reached a five-point consensus to promote bilateral relations towards stability and development, following a meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and visiting US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Beijing on Friday.

First, both sides agreed to continue to strive to stabilize and develop China-US relations on the basis of the “San Francisco Vision” outlined at a meeting between their heads of state last year.
Second, the two sides agreed to maintain high-level exchanges and contacts at all levels and will continue to allow the restored and newly established consultation mechanisms to play their role in diplomacy, economics, finance, and trade. They will continue military exchanges and further advance cooperation between China and the US in drug control, climate change, and artificial intelligence.
Third, both parties announced that they will hold the first bilateral intergovernmental dialogue on artificial intelligence, continue to advance consultations on the principles guiding China-US relations, hold a new round of consultations on Asia-Pacific affairs and maritime affairs, and continue consular consultations. The anti-drug working groups of the two countries will hold a high-level meeting. The US welcomes Chinese Special Envoy for Climate Change Affairs Liu Zhenmin's visit to the country.
Fourth, both sides will take measures to expand cultural and people-to-people exchanges, welcome students from each other's countries, and work to together to successfully organize the 14th China-US Tourism Leadership Summit in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, in May.
Fifth, both parties will continue consultations on international and regional issues of concern, and strengthen communication between special envoys from both countries.
