(VOVworld) – Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos signed a decree Tuesday calling on Colombian citizens to join a referendum on the government’s historic peace deal with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).

Santos said that the vote would have only one question on whether the Colombians support the final accord to end the conflict and build a stable and lasting peace. The decree was issued few hours after the Congress approved the referendum with 71 votes in favor, and one day after the Colombian government and the FARC signed a ceasefire deal to end 52 years of conflict.
