(VOVworld) – On Tuesday, Colombia’s government rejected a proposal by the guerrilla group of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) to establish a special peace zone to end more than half a century of civil war in Colombia.

A government statement said it does not want to divide Colombia or hand over part of its territory to any organization. Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos said he hopes after the war, FARC will take part in Colombian politics as an organization or party committed to supporting this position.
