(VOVworld) – The National Assembly’s Committee of National Defense and Security on Saturday discussed a draft law on entry-exit and foreigners’ stays in Vietnam. Delegates said the draft law should completely and clearly reflect the principle of national sovereignty and equality in international relations. They suggested the draft law deal with new approaches related to the establishment of an ASEAN community by the end of 2015 to match international commitments and the trend of tourism development. The draft law needs to clarify the role and responsibility of central ministries and agencies in entry-exit activities. At the same time, the Government needs to adopt a mechanism of collaboration between ministries, sectors and localities to make entry-exit activities uniform. Deputy Nguyen Thanh Hong said: “I call on the compiling board to supplement provisions on the district and communal involvement in entry-exit management, particularly foreigners’ residence in their areas. This is to overcome current weakness and to uphold the role and responsibilities of local administrations”
National Assembly Vice Chairman Huynh Ngoc Son asked the Committee of National Defense and Security to finalize the discussions on the draft law, which will be submitted to next National Assembly session for discussion.
