Concentrated quarantine period extended from 14 to 21 days

(VOVWORLD) - Given the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic with the emergence of new variants of the virus, the Ministry of Health has decided to extend the period of concentrated quarantine for imported cases and those with close contact with SARS-CoV-2 positive cases in Vietnam. The quarantine period will last 21 days instead of 14 days.

Vietnam recorded an additional 26 new cases of COVID-19, including 18 locally-transmitted cases, during the past 12 hours to 6pm on Wednesday, said the Ministry of Health.

Notably, 14 of the cases in Hanoi were detected at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, becoming a new coronavirus hotspot in Vietnam. The hospital was cordoned off during the day for epidemiological investigation, contact tracing and testing.

The remaining 8 cases are imported cases who have been quarantined upon their arrival in Vietnam.

To date, Vietnam has had a total of 3,022 COVID-19 patients with 2,560 recoveries.
