(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Sunday attended a ceremony to inaugurate a plaque in honor of President Ho Chi Minh in Rio de Janeiro city, Brazil, where the Vietnamese revolutionary leader stayed in 1912 during his journey for national salvation.

The plaque, located in the Santa Teresa neighborhood, it is engraved bilingually in Vietnamese and Portuguese, reads the great revolutionary legacy of President Ho Chi Minh and the fact that the President arrived in Rio de Janeiro in 1912 on his journey for national salvation.
Speaking at the event, PM Chinh said President Ho Chi Minh’s arrival in Rio de Janeiro more than 100 year ago marked the start of the bonding between Vietnam and Brazil in history and its development today.
According to the PM, the plaque inauguration honors President Ho Chi Minh and pays tribute to his contributions to the friendship between the two countries and two peoples, which is a milestone in the good relations between the two countries.
He said he believes that young generations of the two countries can learn about the history, preserve President Ho Chi Minh’s noble values, and forge closer ties between Rio de Janeiro and Vietnamese localities.
