Conference discusses e-commerce application in SMEs
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s e commerce increased to 8 billion USD last year and now ranks 4th in Southeast Asia, according to an ongoing conference on promoting small and medium sized enterprises and their participation in the APEC region to narrow digital gap.
At the event in Hanoi on Tuesday, Dang Hoang Hai, Director of the Vietnam e Commerce and Digital Economy Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said the workshop is an opportunity for participants to share experience and propose policies to develop the digital economy as well as to encourage e commerce application in SMEs. Mr. Hai said: “The private economic sector plays an important role in digitalizing the economy. The government has stressed the need to further support SMEs in this process. At the workshop, participants discussed an overview of the APEC roadmap, encouraging APEC members to participate in the process, assuring data security and promoting Logistics”.
With 143 million registered mobile subscribers, and 64 percent of the population using the internet and getting involved in online commerce, Vietnam has great potential to develop its digital economy.
