(VOVworld) - The Nghi Son Iron and Steel Corporation started the construction of its 260 million USD international port on Wednesday in central Thanh Hoa Province’s Nghi Son Economic Zone.

It will cover 71 hectares including storehouses and wharves. The first three wharves are expected to become operational by October next year, the next two in 2017 and the construction of the entire complex will be completed by 2021. Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai said at the groundbreaking ceremony that the project would help to connect the sea port with other transport modes to meet the transportation demands of industries and infrastructure development in the zone. Mr. Hai urged investors and builders to strictly follow the project plan and ensure labor safety and the quality of the work.
