(VOVworld) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has ordered the construction of a highway connecting Ha Long City in Quang Ninh province to Bach Dang Bridge in Hai Phong.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony on Saturday, the Prime Minister considered the mobilization of resources from all economic sectors in socio-economic infrastructure development a strategic breakthrough to promote sustainable growth. He instructed the Ministries of Transport, Planning and Investment to coordinate with provinces and Japan to arrange sufficient funding to ensure early construction of Bach Dang Bridge. The 25 kilometer highway will have 4 lanes and cost 6.4 trillion dong to build. Once it is completed in 2016, the highway will shorten travel distance from 70 to 25 kilometers.
