Mr. To Lam, who leads the Central Steering Committee on Prevention and Control of Corruption and Negative Phenomena, chaired the 26th meeting of the Committee in Hanoi, on Wednesday.
The top leader said that in the first half of this year, the investigation, prosecution and trial work was directed strongly and decisively. Particularly serious corruption cases, involving multiple ministries, sectors and localities, were handled strictly. In addition, the Provincial Steering Committee on Prevention and Control of Corruption and Negative Phenomena is operating more and more effectively. The recovery of corrupt assets, appraisal and valuation of assets have seen positive changes.
General Secretary and President To Lam requested the authorities to continue to strongly and synchronously deploy solutions, resolutely and persistently fight against corruption and negativity. He stressed the need to accelerate the progress of building and synchronously perfecting institutions and remove bottlenecks and obstacles to maintain national stability and development.
Mr. To Lam pointed out that preventing and combating corruption and negativity must serve socio-economic development and must not hinder economic and social development. It must be supervised by cadres, party members and the people.
“It’s imperative to improve the effectiveness of preventive measures, boost communications, education, and culture building, and integrity. Efforts should be made to strengthen control and exercise of power and enhance the effectiveness, efficiency and supervision of elected bodies, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, the press and the people in preventing and combating corruption and negativity,” said General Secretary and President To Lam.
