(VOVWORLD) -Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz has begun an official friendship visit to Vietnam until Sunday as he arrived in Hanoi late Wednesday.

This is PM Cruz’s first visit to a country outside Latin America since he took office in December 2019, and also the first to Vietnam by a Cuban senior leader since 2018.
The visit is to implement agreements reached between the two countries’ senior leaders so as to further tighten the friendship, fidelity, mutual trust and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States, Governments and people of Vietnam and Cuba.
During his stay in Vietnam, Prime Minister Cruz is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and meet with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
He will receive the Ho Chi Minh Order, witness the signing of a number of bilateral cooperation documents, attend a Vietnam - Cuba business forum, and meet with leaders of Ho Chi Minh City.
