(VOVWORLD) -Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has underlined building, preserving and developing an advanced culture deeply imbued with national identity, making it a spiritual foundation and a growth motivation lighting the people's path ahead.

Speaking in a national cultural conference on Wednesday, the party leader said that looking back on achievements in cultural building and development over the years, especially in 35 years of implementing the “Doi Moi” (Renewal) cause, it can be seen that culture has made great contributions to the national defense and construction:
"Culture is the spiritual foundation of the society, the goal and internal strength for national development. Promoting the cultural values and the strength of Vietnamese people will help inspire the aspirations for a prosperous nation, creating a synergy for harmonious cultural, economic development and social advancement, as President Ho Chi Minh hailed culture as the torch enlightening the nation’s progress. Our advanced culture enriched with national identities with the core of national independence and socialism, Marxism and Leninism, Ho Chi Minh thought holding key role in the social spiritual life, following fine cultural tradition of the nation with selected absorption of the finest of the world culture towards healthy and civilized society for human dignity and just interests and heightened knowledge, moral value, physical, aesthetic lifestyle.”
The Party leader clarified that boosting cultural development is one of the major contents of the documents adopted at the 13th National Party Congress.
“Human development in the renewal process should be linked to proper standards and the preservation of Vietnamese family values, patriotism, unity, and resourcefulness. Many traditional cultural values and national cultural heritages have been inherited, preserved and developed for a socialist-oriented market economy as well as stepping up the national industrialization, modernization on the basis of the national value system and the ultimate goal of peace, unity, independence, prosperous country, democracy, equality, civilization and happiness.”
The Party leader also called for more focus on Party building and political system consolidation in culture so that the political system represents moral and civilized value as well as Vietnamese people dignity.
