Running through next Monday, the festival in Phuoc Son district is themed “Cultural Colors of Mountainous Quang Nam”.

Addressing the opening ceremony on Thursday, Ho Quang Buu, Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, said the event is promoting cultural, art and sports movements, preserving traditional cultural identities, consolidating the great national unity bloc, and driving the socio-economic and tourism development of mountain localities and Quang Nam province as a whole.

“The festival helps localities introduce and promote attractions, tourism products, traditional food, and folk games, thus promoting the development of tourism in the mountain districts. It will also help discover and foster local artisans, artists, and athletes in preparation for regional and national events,” Mr. Buu added.

As part of the festival, there are “One Commune One Product” (OCOP) displays, photo exhibitions introducing the culture, people and cuisine of ethnic minorities, famtrips, and a seminar on the development of tourism in the mountain areas of Quang Nam.
