(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said on Saturday that defense cooperation continues to be one of the important pillars in the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship.

Receiving General Tea Banh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of Cambodia, in Hanoi on Saturday, Prime Minister Chinh said Vietnam values and gives top priority to developing good neighborliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive, sustainable, and long-term cooperation with Cambodia.
He suggested that the two countries' defense ministries and militaries continue to closely coordinate, effectively implement the common awareness between the two countries' senior leaders, and strengthen cooperation in multilateral forums and in such areas as digital transformation, overcoming the consequences of landmines, and economic development.
The Prime Minister said that the Government and ministries of Vietnam within their capabilities will support and assist Cambodia to successfully organize major events of 2023 such as the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games-32) and the Southeast Asian Para Games.
General Tea Banh expressed his gratitude for the solidarity and great support of the Vietnamese Party, State, army and people, who helped the Cambodian people in overthrowing the genocidal regime and in the current national construction and development.
As Head of the Organizing Committee of the SEA Games, General Tea Banh thanked Vietnam for the goodwill and wished to continue receiving active support from Vietnam to successfully host this sporting event.
