Defense Ministers of Vietnam, Malaysia agree on closer cooperation
(VOVWORLD) - The Defense Ministers of Vietnam and Malaysia have agreed to increase exchanges of delegations, soon establish consultation and dialogue mechanisms, promote cooperation between their armed services and in the areas where both have strengths and needs, as well as consult and support each other at regional and global security forums.

The two ministers reached the consensus at Monday’s talks after the welcoming ceremony in Hanoi for visiting Malaysian Defense Minister Mohamad Bin Hasan.
Both emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, security, safety, freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea, and the need to seriously and fully implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea.
They also agreed to promote the early conclusion of negotiations and signing of the Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (COC) in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
