(VOVworld)- The Department of Operations of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army held a ceremony on Saturday to mark its 70^th anniversary.

In his address, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has urged the Department to improve its performance to be deserved as a command agency for military and national defense strategies. Phuc said: “It’s necessary to closely follow the situations and strictly manage air space, border areas, national waters and key localities. The department needs to study the situations in the region and the world, the East Sea and their impact on national security. The Department needs to make prompt proposals to help maintain political stability, social order and security”.

To mark the occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister presented the title Hero of Armed Forces to the Department of Operations of the General Staff.
