Deputy FM affirms Vietnam's policy of protecting human rights

(VOVWORLD) -Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Hoang Giang on Friday reiterated Vietnam's consistent policy of and commitment to protecting and promoting human rights, putting people at the center and considering people as the goal and motivation for development.

Deputy Foreign Minister Giang made the opening remarks  at the international consultation workshop on the second draft voluntary mid-term report on the implementation of Universal Periodic Review (UPR) third cycle recommendations that opened in Hanoi on Friday.

Mr. Giang said Vietnam’s human rights commitments are reflected in the 13th National  Party Congress Resolution and in the way Vietnam dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

A responsible member of the United Nations and the international community, Vietnam pays close attention to the UPR process, is strongly committed to continuing to make active and responsible contributions to the work of the UN Human Rights Council, especially when Vietnam is running for membership of the Human Rights Council for the 2023-2025 term, according to the Deputy Foreign Minister.
