Deputy PM praises President Putin’s economic connectivity initiative

(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang praised Russian President Vladimir Putin's "Greater Asia-Europe Partnership" initiative on connecting regional economic integration processes to spread benefits to all parties.

In a message delivered at the opening session of the 27th Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum on Thursday in Russia, Deputy PM Quang emphasized the need for solidarity, cooperation, and responsible behavior of all countries to overcome world challenges. He said cooperation must be based on the principles of equality, mutual benefit, mutual respect, and compliance with the UN Charter and international law.
The Deputy PM proposed that countries ahead in economic connectivity share their experience and help developing countries like Vietnam build policy mechanisms, access resources, apply technology, develop digital infrastructure and green infrastructure, and train high-quality human resources.

The Vietnamese delegation met on Thursday with Russia’s Deputy Minister of Economic Development Vladimir Ilichev to discuss economic and trade cooperation. They said oil and gas is a pillar of Vietnam-Russia cooperation and agreed to create favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to cooperate effectively on clean, green energy conversion and sustainable development.
At a meeting with Saint Petersburg authorities the two sides agreed to organize activities in 2024 and 2025 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Treaty on Basic Principles of Friendly Relations and 75 years of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Russia.
