Receiving British Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Therese Coffey in Hanoi on Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Ha said he hopes the British government will assist Vietnam in implementing greenhouse gas emission reduction measures, adapting to climate change, and achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

He also called on the UK to help Vietnam research and develop renewable energy projects, especially offshore wind power, to replace coal-fueled thermal power plants, provide technological support to operate the national energy system when the proportion of wind and solar energy is increasing.

Earlier on Wednesday, Secretary Coffey discussed with Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan cooperation in agriculture, food and beverage. The UK and Vietnam signed a Memorandum of Understanding on implementing programs under the UK's Biodiversity Fund in Vietnam.
