(VOVworld) – An art program took place in Hanoi on Monday to mark the 60^th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory on May 7th. Entitled “Dien Bien Phu – symphony of peace”, the programme offered an opportunity for audiences to talk with war veterans who have become legends and the historical witnesses in the fierce struggle between France and Vietnam.

The highlight in the program was an interview with Phillippe Sainten, the son of former governor of northern Vietnam Jean Sainteny who represented the French government to sign an accord with President Ho Chi Minh in 1946. As part of the show, Raymond Dien told her story to lie across the railway in Tours city to stop the train carrying weapons to Vietnam. Among the witnesses was Daniel Roussel, former journalist of the French L'Humanite newspaper and director of the well-known documentary about the historic Dien Bien Phu battle. Daniel said: “There’s a big difference between France and Vietnam in this fight. The French army fought for the ruling but the Vietnamese fought for national independence and peace and to protect its land. For this reason, Vietnam wasn’t yielded.”
