(VOVworld) - Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said on Monday in Damascus that it would be "difficult" to implement an internationally backed truce in Syria. The deal, agreed by world powers in Munich last week, calls for a cessation of hostilities to start in a week. But Assad said any cease-fire did not mean each side had to stop using weapons and nobody was capable of securing the conditions for one within a week. He said that a ceasefire must mean stopping terrorists from strengthening their positions, adding that moving weapons, equipment, terrorists or strengthening positions must all be forbidden.

At the Munich conference last week, the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) agreed on a plan to stop all hostile acts, scheduled to start this week.
