The performance told the story of sacred dragons gathering in the magnificent and majestic capital of Hanoi.
It began with the image of King Ly Thai To publishing the Edict to transfer the capital from Hoa Lu in the northern province of Ninh Binh to Hanoi in 1010, followed by famous landmarks associated with the history of the capital such as The Huc Bridge, Long Bien Bridge, and Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature). The highlight of the show was the image of the dragon during the Ly dynasty, which represents nobility and intelligence and also a sacred symbol of the Vietnamese people.

"You have to watch it live to truly appreciate the grandeur of this performance. What impressed me the most was the image of the flying dragon along with the words 'Happy New Year,' 'Happy Spring.’ It’s very meaningful. It brings joy to the people and signals a new year full of happiness," said Hanoi resident Nguyen Thanh Huong.
The light show was followed by a 15-minute high-altitude fireworks display, welcoming the Year of the Dragon.
In the southernmost province of Ca Mau, locals were treated to fireworks shows at 4 locations and art programs celebrating the Lunar New Year.
Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City simultaneously set off fireworks at 11 locations, representing people’ wish for a better year.
"It was a difficult year for the global economy. I’m looking forward to a new year with much joy, happiness, and prosperity," said Nguyen Duc Tam of Dong Thap province.
