This record figure was due to strong demand in China. Durian contributed significantly to the 39% growth in Vietnamese vegetables and fruit in the first months of 2023, according to Dang Phuc Nguyen, Secretary General of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetables Association.
“Fruit and vegetables revenue this year is expected to rise 20%, around 4 billion USD, thanks to profitable durian, banana, and jackfruit exports.”
Durian exports are forecast to reach 1 billion USD for the first time this year.
