Minister of Transitional Justice Mohamed Amin al-Mahdy accused Muslim political groups, in particular the Muslim Brotherhood of not abiding by the rules of democracy and impeding dialogues for reconciliation. Mahdy said the Muslim Brotherhood must be held responsible for street violence. He stressed that the group’s not recognizing people’s aspirations shows they are not to be trusted.
The same day, dozens of students supporting ousted President Mohamed Morsi were injured in protests against the interim government at many universities in Egypt. Many protestors set fire to a guard booth and stoned security forces, demanded their friends be released, and raised banners to protest the police, the army and the constitutional referendum.
