(VOVWORLD) - Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said Monday that the number of refugees and immigrants in Egypt has surpassed 9 million, representing 133 different countries.

Egypt has ensured health and education services for foreign citizens residing in Egypt, according to Egyptian Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar. Statistics show that 60% of the refugees have lived in Egypt for a decade, and 37% hold stable jobs with Egyptian companies.
According to the International Organization for Migration, Sudan has the highest number of refugees and immigrants living in Egypt, 4 million people, followed by Syria with 1.5 million people, Yemen with one million, and Libya with one million.
Those four countries combined account for 80% of the international migrants currently residing in Egypt. International estimates indicate that refugees and immigrants constitute approximately 8.7% of Egypt's total population.
