(VOVworld) – Israel’s Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper said Thursday that Egypt is arranging a meeting between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Cairo to boost peace negotiations between the two countries. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will attend the event.

The newspaper said President al-Sisi is attempting to push Palestine-Israel negotiations, with France's initiative to hold an international conference in Paris delayed by PM Netanyahu’s rejection of the initiative.
Last week, President al-Sisi said there is an opportunity to restore peace between Palestine and Israel if both countries agree to mediation by Egypt and the Arab League. Al-Sisi called on Palestinian groups to meet and reconcile. He said Egypt is ready to be a mediator between Israel and Palestine.
