The Islamic holy month of Ramadan is scheduled to begin on 18 June. On Friday, the Heneidy, a government-appointed committee ‎charged with drafting the electoral constituencies law released a final draft of the law after it was adopted by the Supreme Constitutional Court. According to the legal document, in the upcoming election, there will be 449 constituencies equal to the number of seats in the parliament.

The number of independent candidates is estimated to reach 600 people particularly after the revised law on election allows Egyptian citizens of two nationalities to participate in this election.

Earlier the Egyptian government affirmed its determination to complete the parliamentary elections, the third stage and the last step in the country’s political transition roadmap following the military-back coup d’etat of President Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.
