Ahmed Hassan, who wrote the story, said the victory changed not only Vietnam's history but also the world by inspiring national independence movements in other colonial countries. His article highlighted Vietnam’s status as one of the leading countries in achieving the UN Millennium Goals.
Vietnam has gone from being a country under embargo to one with broad and deep diplomatic relations with 193 countries, the article said. It has established comprehensive strategic partnerships or strategic partnerships with all five permanent members of the UN Security Council, and has forged economic and trade relations with 230 countries and territories.
Vietnam's elevated position and reputation in the international arena affirms its policy of being a friendly, trustworthy partner and an active, responsible member of the international community, according to Hassan.
