(VOVworld)- Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab was sworn in as Egypt's new premier along with 34 cabinet members on Tuesday in Cairo. At the swearing- in ceremony, Mahlab pledged to comply with the law and the constitution, ensure people’s rights and defend national independence and sovereignty. Egypt’s new cabinet has 14 new ministers including 4 female ministers. On Monday former ambassador to Washington Sameh Shukri was appointed foreign minister, Naglaa El Ahwany, a university professor was named minister for international cooperation, and Professor Gaber Asfour were elected Minister of Culture. This is the first move of Prime Minister Mahlab since President Fattah al-Sisi sworn in on June 8. Other offices, including Finance Minister, Defense Minister, Interior Minister, Minister of Planning, Minister of Petroleum, and Minister of Electricity and Energy, remain unchanged.
