In last Thursday’s first round of voting, Pita failed to be elected PM by the Parliament, receiving just 324 votes, well below the minimum threshold of 375 votes to win.

Senator Somchai Sawaengkarn said Monday that Mr. Pita’s eligibility to be re-nominated will be discussed Tuesday with Speaker of the National Assembly Wan Muhamad Noor Matha.

Thailand's constitution allows the Senate, comprising 250 appointed senators (currently 249 senators, with one of them having announced their resignation), to participate in the process of electing a Prime Minister alongside the House of Representatives.
