Last month, the list was shortened to 10 members but on Monday, the IEC reinstated the disqualified candidate. Incumbent President Hamid Karzai will be barred from running for a third term as stipulated by the constitution.
Sponsor countries are pressuring President Kazai’s administration to approve a series of electoral laws which are considered important to prove that billions of US dollars worth of aid to Afghanistan were not in vain.
