EU confident about negotiation potential with UK
(VOVWORLD) - EU’s Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier said on Monday that he believes the EU and the UK will reach an agreement in the Brexit negotiations and that the talks will not collapse.
His statement came after the UK’s Brexit secretary David Davis threatened to walk out if the EU's "divorce bill" is too high. UK ministers have reacted angrily to reports that the EU may demand as much as 100 billion Euros. The EU is also insisting that sufficient progress be made on citizens' rights and the UK-Irish border before talks begin on a future trade deal.
The first round of talks will begin on 19 June.
